How to Play Brunos

Brunos is a free online multiplayer card game for 2 to 10 players, inspired by UNO. The goal is simple: be the first to empty your hand. Each player starts with 7 cards and takes turns playing one card per turn.

Getting Started

  1. Enter a nickname — no account needed.
  2. Click Create Room to get a 6-character room code.
  3. Share that code with up to 9 friends (10 total).
  4. Friends visit this page, enter the code, and join instantly.
  5. The host clicks Start Game when everyone is ready.

On Your Turn

  1. Play a card from your hand that matches the top discard's color or number.
  2. Wild cards can always be played regardless of color or number.
  3. If you have no playable card, click the draw pile to draw one.
  4. If the drawn card is playable, you may play it immediately or skip.
  5. When you're down to 1 card, hit Call Brunos before your opponents catch you!

Card Types & Rules

Brunos uses a standard 108-card deck plus exclusive special cards. Here is what every card does:

0–9
Number Cards

Play on a matching color or a matching number. These make up most of the deck across four colors: Red, Pink, Violet, and Black.

⊘
Skip

The next player in turn order loses their turn entirely. In a 2-player game this gives you an extra turn.

⇄
Reverse

Reverses the direction of play (clockwise ↔ counter-clockwise). In a 2-player game it acts like Skip.

+2
Draw 2

The next player must draw 2 cards and forfeit their turn. Cannot be stacked — each +2 must be accepted individually.

W
Wild

Play on any color. You choose the new active color after playing it. Worth 50 points if caught in an opponent's hand.

+4
Wild Draw 4

Play anytime, choose the new color, and force the next player to draw 4 cards. But they can challenge you: if you had a playable card of the current color, you get caught bluffing and draw 6 cards instead. Challenge wisely — if your challenge fails you draw 6.

◈
Wild Mirror (exclusive)

Brunos-exclusive card. Plays on any color but does not change the active color — the current color stays in effect. Use it as a free pass when you have no matching card, without disrupting the color flow. Worth 40 points.

↺
Shuffle

Collects all hands and redistributes the cards equally among all active players. A game-changing card when you're stuck with a large hand. Worth 50 points.

Special Rules

Call Brunos

When you play your second-to-last card, leaving yourself with exactly 1 card, you must press Call Brunos within the time window. If an opponent catches you before you call, you draw a 2-card penalty. This is Brunos's equivalent of calling "UNO!" in the classic game.

Draw & Play

If you draw a card and it can immediately be played on the discard pile, the game gives you a short window to play it or skip your turn. You are not forced to play it — but it's a valuable option.

Force Play Rule

You must play a card if you have a valid one. You cannot choose to draw if you already hold a playable card. This keeps the game moving and prevents stalling.

Winning & Scoring

The first player to empty their hand wins the round. Other players score penalty points equal to the cards still in their hands (face value for numbers; 20 for Skip/Reverse/Draw 2; 40–50 for wild cards). The player with the highest remaining score at the end is the loser.

Play with Up to 10 Players — More Than Any Other Free Card Game Site

Most free online card game sites limit rooms to 4 or 6 players. Brunos supports up to 10 players in a single room, making it ideal for large friend groups, family game nights, office parties, or classroom activities. There is no per-player fee, no subscription, and no app to install — just share the room code and everyone joins from their browser in seconds.

  • Works on desktop, laptop, tablet, and mobile simultaneously in the same room
  • Players can join mid-session during the lobby stage
  • Disconnected players are held in place — they can reconnect and resume
  • Spectate option for players who finish early while others play on

Frequently Asked Questions

How many players can play Brunos at once?
Up to 10 players can play in a single room. This makes Brunos one of the few free online card games that supports large groups. Most competing sites cap at 4 to 6 players.
Is Brunos the same as UNO?
Brunos is heavily inspired by UNO but is a separate game with additional features: Wild Draw 4 bluff challenges, the exclusive Wild Mirror card, a Shuffle Hands card, a two-step Brunos-call system, and support for 10 players. It is played free online in your browser.
Do I need to download anything or create an account?
No download and no account required. Pick a nickname, create or join a room, and you're playing. Everything runs in the browser.
What is the Wild Mirror card?
Wild Mirror (◈) is a Brunos-exclusive card. Like a Wild, it can be played on any color. Unlike a Wild, it does not change the active color — the current color stays the same. It lets you stay in the game without redirecting play.
What happens if I challenge a Wild Draw 4?
If you challenge and the player who played it had a card matching the current color in their hand, the challenge succeeds and they draw 6 cards instead of you. If they had no matching color card, your challenge fails and you draw 6 cards. Choose wisely!
Can I play Brunos on my phone?
Yes — Brunos is fully mobile-friendly and works on any modern smartphone or tablet browser. No app download needed. Multiple players can be on different devices in the same room simultaneously.
What happens if a player disconnects?
Disconnected players are held in the room temporarily. They can rejoin using the same room code and their nickname to resume where they left off. The host can also remove a disconnected player from the lobby.
